By signing up to this course, you are on your way to achieving a full teacher training qualification that can lead to Quality Teaching Learning and Skills (QTLS) recognition. The diploma consists of 8 core units to be completed to achieve the qualification (The first unit is split into for units for ease of learning). Each core unit will be accompanied by 1 or 2 observations to show your development of theory into practice.

As with all of our teacher training courses, you will be fully supported by your personal tutor throughout your course. This is a long course and there may be times when you are driven by motivations and times when things may seem more challenging. This is part of learning but it is important to keep in touch with your personal tutor for that extended support.

For your reference you can download your personal tracking sheet. This document allows you to see the required criteria and how they will be assessed.

You need to be teaching as this is an important aspect of the training and links to unit assessment criteria. The observations will be completed with a mix of your personal tutor and someone from your organisation. Observations are mostly completed at the end of a unit and need to be conducted at least a month apart to show growth.

There are some assessments that you can download and complete, however at the moment, this course can not be completed offline. However if there are issues please contact your personal tutor if you need to make other arrangements.

You will be assessed in a number of ways. Click on the tabs to see how this will be done.

You will see the assessments at the bottom of relevant pages. They will look similar to the image shown.

Some assessments will be attached to the lesson page with the criteria listed.

You will find the notes pages at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. when you open the screen. If accessing the notes page is difficult you can add your notes to a word processing programme. Any notes related to specific criteria will be in blue e.g., ‘In your Notes explain…’

Have a try – click on the notes icon and add your name and date.

As mentioned above, there will be several observations to record your proficiency for different assessment criterion.

It may be that we need to clarify some information on one of the assessments or have a chat about some of your knowledge in a a particular area. This may be done through email, online or face to face.

When you start a new unit, all of the unit details will be on the unit overview page.

To access the lesson, you can either click on the menu that is underneath the unit overview,

or you can click on the menu on the left hand side of the screen.

When you are ready to move on to the next lesson, click the Mark Complete button, then the Next Lesson button.

Save your work at regular intervals and keep a copy of the content you upload. We don’t want to your lose your insights and experiences.

.

When completing research, make a note of your readings and research materials, this will be important for building your bibliography that shows evidence-based actions and arguments. There will be a space for you to log your research either in your Notes or on required assessments.

As tempting as it may be to power through the different units, ensure you are taking regular breaks – whether that is time out for a cup of tea or a couple of weeks to enjoy life away from study for a bit. Just keep your personal tutor informed, they will be there when you are ready to start again.
